Overview
Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), launched on 28 August 2014, is India's flagship financial inclusion program providing universal access to banking services. By 2026, it has opened 53.13 crore accounts with ₹2.17 lakh crore deposits, bringing 80% of households into formal banking.
Every adult gets a zero-balance savings account, RuPay debit card, and ₹2 lakh accidental insurance (₹30 premium/year). Eligible account holders can access ₹10,000 overdraft after 6 months. The scheme integrates with Direct Benefit Transfers (₹34 lakh crore transferred), Aadhaar, and mobile banking, enabling DBT for 300+ schemes. Women account for 55% beneficiaries, with dedicated camps for underserved areas.
Who is Eligible?
- Any adult Indian resident (including minors age 10+)
- No existing bank account required
- NRIs and minors (10+) eligible
- Priority for rural/women/SC/ST families
- One account per household recommended

How to Apply
- 1Step 1: Visit bank branch, Business Correspondent, or PMJDY camp
