Overview
🔥 PM Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY): Clean Cooking, Healthier Homes
The Scheme: A life-changing initiative providing free LPG gas connections to women from low-income households, ending the health risks of traditional firewood and coal smoke.
Core Benefits:
Zero Setup Cost: Get a gas cylinder, pressure regulator, and safety hose for free. No security deposit is required.
Free First Refill & Stove: Your first gas refill and a two-burner gas stove are provided completely free of cost.
Ongoing Subsidy: Beneficiaries currently receive a targeted subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder for up to 12 refills per year, paid directly to your bank.
Special Migrant Support: Migrants can apply using a simple self-declaration if they don't have local address proof or a ration card.
Things to Keep in Mind:
Aadhaar e-KYC: You must complete your e-KYC at the gas agency to keep receiving the ₹300 subsidy.
Bank Mapping: Your bank account must be linked to your Aadhaar (Aadhaar Seeding) for the subsidy to arrive.
5kg Cylinder Option: If the big 14.2kg cylinder is too expensive to refill, you can swap it for a 5kg cylinder which is much cheaper and easier to carry.
Official Status (As of March 12, 2026):
Total Reach: Over 10.56 Crore connections released nationwide.
2026 Goal: The government is currently releasing an additional 25 Lakh connections to reach the final remaining households.
